My memories of turmeric take me back to my childhood days when my father used to come back from the factory with his skin and clothing dyed bright yellow, bringing the aroma of curcumin with him. We would instantly know that he been near the boiler extracting curcumin from the spice’s roots. My mom would have a tough time washing away the yellow stains.
Did you know that when turmeric comes into contact with any form of soap it changes colour to red? I used to find this amazing.
The next memory is of mom giving a tea of turmeric sweetened with honey or adding the spice to hot milk; both remedying coughs and sore throats.
I came across this article and had to share it:
Several things amazed me – firstly, the fact that there is scientific research to support the belief that turmeric may be beneficial for a staggering 600+ conditions. Turmeric is one of the world’s most studied items for medicinal potential, with over 4000 scientific studies being recorded.
