A Simple Ayurvedic Beauty Routine in Four Steps

In short: A simple Ayurvedic beauty routine has four steps: cleanse your face, use a face mask two or three times a week, wash with a handmade soap, then moisturise. Our vegan range covers each one: Cleansing Face Wash, Turmeric Face Mask, Neem & Tulsi Handmade Soap and Body Lotion.

Ayurvedic beauty care means looking after your skin with plant ingredients and a steady, simple routine. Here is how to build one.

Why choose a simpler beauty routine?

Fewer products mean fewer steps to remember, less on the bathroom shelf and a routine you will actually keep. Choose a few products you enjoy using and stick with them.

What is a simple daily beauty routine?

Step 1: Cleanse your face

Wet your face with warm water, massage a small amount of our Cleansing Face Wash in circles for about a minute, then rinse and pat dry. It is a foaming gel with aloe vera.

Step 2: Use a face mask two or three times a week

Apply a thin layer of our Turmeric Face Mask with neem and bergamot to clean, dry skin. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. See how to use a turmeric face mask.

Step 3: Wash with a handmade soap

Our Neem & Tulsi Handmade Vegan Soap (Yogi) is made by hand with neem and tulsi on a virgin coconut oil base, and is SLS free. See neem and tulsi soap explained.

Step 4: Moisturise

Massage our Body Lotion with aloe vera and shea butter into your skin after a shower. A blend of neroli, petitgrain and lavender gives it a fresh scent.

Who makes Holy Lama beauty care?

Our soaps are made by hand and our creams, lotions and oils are hand filled and hand labelled, all at our own factory in Kerala, India, by a family business that dates back to 1946. The factory is a government recognised women's enterprise following the 10 principles of Fair Trade, and more than 80% of the workforce is women, many from disadvantaged backgrounds. Raw materials come from small farmers and local cooperatives, and production waste is used as fuel or as cattle feed rather than sent to landfill. Our body care is vegan, except Holy Balm and Lip Balm, which contain beeswax.
